About the Program
As in his life, Koochie's art has travelled a long, varied, sometimes interrupted but always interesting course. From his initial active pursuit of woodcarving as a young teen at home among the Lil'wat, he partly financed his travels through sales at whatever local tourist trading post along the road. After returning home to live a few years ago, he resumed his earlier exploration of stone carving (along with wood and bone) largely in Lil'wat style, with an occasional touch of his own particular viewpoint added.Artist
