Styles Beyond Compare: Hip Hop Graffiti Art

June 28 – July 9, 1988
Exhibition

About the Program

In Styles Beyond Compare: Hip Hop Graffiti Art, three young Vancouver hip hop graffiti writers—known as RIP, Scene, and Risk-E—apply their spray paint to the inside of the building, transforming the entire gallery into a wild and colourful mural. This installation was part of the recent legitimizing process undertaken by the artists to extend their illegal form of expression into the established art community.
